Every now and then there’s a day that I’m just not ‘feelin’ it.’ I’m tired, not mentally ‘in the game’ and not very motivated. At the same time, I know I should be riding – not because I ‘have to,’ but because I enjoy trials and because pushing through the tough days helps me progress my skills.
Today was no different. It was hard to get going, but I dragged myself off the couch and went out to ride. On days that I’m mentally struggling, I know it’s a good idea to keep it chill and not push myself with any lines or obstacles that are at my limits. When your confidence and energy are low, that’s when you get injured.
So, today I mostly just tooled around on simple lines and basic skills. Despite being physically and mentally tired, I was actually able to make some progress. No big moves or anything, but subtle improvements and more consistency.
While this edit probably won’t blow your mind, hopefully it motivates you to just get out on your bike. If you’re not feeling confident, don’t push yourself, but do something. Just make sure you have fun though. Isn’t that what it’s all about anyway?
