Yesterday afternoon I headed down to the University of Connecticut (UCONN) Avery Point campus for a trials biking session. In addition to being a fun place to ride, the Avery Point campus is in a beautiful location on the water and has an eclectic mix of building architecture. I love the industrial look in some of the shots. All in all, it was a great ride.

My riding was actually pretty decent, which was nice – especially since I decided to film the session. It was one of those days when everything just seemed to ‘click.’ I was able to do some lines I had been unable to complete previously, or in some cases, just unable to ‘clean’ (i.e., without putting a foot down). While none of the lines are huge or high consequence, some of them were a little scary; trials riding is definitely a head game. The edit starts with some technical riding, then progresses into gaps, drops, etc.

Since it was overcast, the lighting wasn’t great. I tried fixing it while editing – the effect makes the scenes look surreal, which I love. While it looks almost like I used a green screen (chroma key) to add in the sky and background, that was not the case. I like the vibe it gives.
